Good morning everyone,
Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends,
Today, I stand before you to talk about a day that is of immense importance to every Indian. Yes, I am talking about Republic Day, celebrated on 26th January every year. It is a day when we remember the establishment of our Constitution and celebrate the democratic values that make India proud.
What is Republic Day?
Republic Day marks the day when the Constitution of India came into effect on 26th January 1950, replacing the Government of India Act of 1935. It turned India into a fully sovereign, democratic, and republic nation. This day reminds us of the sacrifices of our freedom fighters who dreamed of a free and fair India where every citizen has equal rights and opportunities.
Why is Republic Day Special?
For kids like us, Republic Day is not just another holiday. It is a day to learn about the importance of democracy, unity, and patriotism. It is a day when we proudly salute the tricolor flag, sing the national anthem, and participate in cultural programs and parades that showcase the rich heritage and unity of our nation.
Values Taught by Republic Day
This day teaches us some very important values:

India is a land of different languages, religions, and cultures, yet we stand united as one nation. Republic Day reminds us that despite our differences, we are all Indians first. - Respect for the Constitution
The Constitution is the supreme law of our country. It gives us rights and responsibilities. It reminds us to be good citizens by following the rules and respecting the rights of others. - Patriotism
Republic Day instills in us a deep love for our nation. When we see the flag unfurl and hear the national anthem, our hearts swell with pride.

My Personal Experience with Republic Day Celebrations
Every year, my school celebrates Republic Day with great enthusiasm. I remember the last time I delivered a Republic Day speech for kids, the audience clapped and cheered, and it made me feel proud to talk about our country.
I also recall participating in a skit about our freedom fighters. My role was of Mahatma Gandhi, and it taught me the importance of truth and non-violence. My friend Aarav, who played Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, shared a powerful message about equality and justice, which left a lasting impression on everyone.
The flag hoisting ceremony is always the highlight of the day. When the tricolor flag unfurls and petals fall, it fills us with immense pride and gratitude for the sacrifices made by our ancestors.
Inspiration from Republic Day
Do you know what makes this day truly inspiring? It is the stories of our great leaders who worked tirelessly to build a free and fair nation. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Patel, and many others inspire us to stand for truth, unity, and justice.
They teach us that even small acts of kindness and honesty can make a big difference. Whether it’s helping a classmate, respecting our elders, or being responsible citizens, we can contribute to making our country proud.

A Message for Kids
As kids, we may feel that we are too small to make a difference, but that’s not true. We are the future of this country, and our actions today will shape India’s tomorrow. Let us promise to:
- Respect our parents, teachers, and elders.
- Be kind and helpful to everyone.
- Take care of our environment by not littering and planting trees.
- Study hard and aim to contribute positively to society.
